This is a great combination tour covering the best of Xochimilco and Taxco. Xochimilco, a world heritage site, is famous for its floating gardens, also well known as “flower field place” amongst the natives. At Xochimilco, located on the southern edge of Mexico City, enjoy: Xochimilco Canals – These peaceful waters are the last traces of the Aztec Era. Enjoy a relaxing, scenic journey through these ancient waters on a traditional punt or pre-Hispanic boat called Trajineras. Lake Xochimilco -- Is the sole known habitat for the severely endangered Axolotl salamander. World Trade Center -- Its most famous and recognizable feature is the 52-story, high Torre WTC, the third tallest building in Mexico City. When talking about the World Trade Center México, one usually is referring to the uniquely shaped tower. However, the complex also includes a convention center, cultural center, parking facilities, a multi-screen cinema, a revolving 45th-floor luxury restaurant, and shopping center. Mexico Bullring -- The Plaza de Toros in Mexico City is the largest bullring in the world. It will hold 45,000 spectators. Olympic Stadium -- The 1968 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XIX Olympiad, were celebrated here in 1968. Mexico City beat out bids from Detroit, Buenos Aires and Lyon to host the Games in 1963.
Taxco is a small colonial city located 170 miles north of Acapulco, in the mountains of the North Sierra, with a unique architectural style, which is highlighted by its cobblestone streets and white stucco houses topped with red tiled roofs. Wrought iron balconies, a common adornment, are usually spilling over with beautiful flowers. Enjoy free time to walk through the cobble-stoned streets, visit the Santa Prisca cathedral and savor the atmosphere of this typical Mexican town. This tour includes the following wonderful attractions: The San Bernadino Convent -- The construction dates back to 1592. Today you can still admire its elegant and simple neoclassic style along with the steeple. Santa Prisca Church -- The church is one of the religious constructions prototype of the Mexican baroque style. It was built in 1751 with sumptuous decorations inside. Because of its beauty, its exterior columns, and the amazing art inside, as well as the main altarpiece made from gold, it is without doubt, a place you must visit. Museum of Virreinal Art (The Humboldt house or House of Mirrors) -- Beautiful building of baroque style built in the second half of the 17th century. The building was restored in 1991 and turned into a museum of art with 14 rooms that exhibit sacred art pieces. Silver Museum Antonio Pineda -- The silver craftsman Antonio Pineda y Gomez had the idea of creating a space to expose the awarded silver made pieces from the National Silver Fair and the ones awarded Internationally.
And finally the Silver Shops are a must see as well. The beautiful cobblestone streets are filled with a number of silver shops. Here in Taxco, is the best place to purchase the best quality silver items at a reasonable price.
