Kennedy's time spent in the town. There is a memorial to President Kennedy on the Lewis Bay waterfront that was erected by Barnstable citizens in 1966. The memorial includes a fountain and a field-stone monument with the presidential seal.
Next is a narrated sightseeing harbor cruise along with a professional guide. Watch out for the beautiful views of the Kennedy Compound during the cruise. It contains the homes of Joseph P. Kennedy and two of his sons, Robert F. and John F. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, the latter utilized the compound as a base for his Presidential campaign and as a summer White House and Presidential retreat until his assassination in 1963. This tour will then halt for awhile for lunch(at your own expense). You can even choose to have lunch before the cruise. The admission fee for the cruise is included in the tour fare, so you need not spend a penny for the cruise ride. Once through with your lunch you will be taken to the seaside villages for both shopping and sightseeing. Enjoy buying some local stuff from the shops in the villages.
